Privacy Policy

What we collect

Bar Necessities collects the minimum data necessary to provide the service:

Apple Sign In identifier — A unique, anonymous ID provided by Apple when you sign in. We do not receive your real Apple ID or password.
Email address — Only if you choose to share it during Apple Sign In. Used solely for account support.
Chat messages — Messages you send to Jig are transmitted to our server and forwarded to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate responses. Messages are not stored on our servers after the response is delivered. Chat history is stored locally on your device.
Usage counts — We track the number of chat turns per month to manage free tier limits. We do not track which cocktails you view, rate, or favorite.

What stays on your device

Your bar inventory, tasting notes, ratings, favorites, taste preferences, and all cocktail data are stored locally on your device. We never see this data and it is never transmitted to our servers.

Third-party services

Anthropic — Powers Jig's responses. Your chat messages are sent to Anthropic's API. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Apple — Handles authentication (Sign In with Apple) and subscription payments (via the App Store). See Apple's privacy policy.
Cloudflare — Hosts our backend infrastructure. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not process or store payment information. Apple provides us with subscription status to determine access.

Data retention

Your account record (Apple Sign In ID and email, if provided) is retained as long as your account exists. Usage counts are retained for the current billing month only. We do not retain chat message content.

Your rights

You can delete your local data at any time by deleting the app. To request deletion of your server-side account data, contact us at [email protected].

Children

Bar Necessities is intended for users of legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the app or this page.
